How to Unlock Your Domain for Transfer

Before transferring your domain, it must be unlocked at your current registrar. A locked domain cannot be transferred.

What Is Domain Lock?

Domain lock (also called Registrar Lock or Transfer Lock) is a security feature that prevents unauthorized transfers. It must be disabled before initiating a transfer.

How to Unlock at Common Registrars

GoDaddy

1. Log in → My Products
2. Click on your domain
3. Scroll to Additional Settings
4. Toggle Domain Lock to Off

Namecheap

1. Log in → Domain List
2. Click Manage
3. Toggle Domain Lock to Disabled

Google Domains

1. Log in → My Domains
2. Click the domain → Registration Settings
3. Toggle off Transfer lock

Important Notes

• Unlocking may take up to 24 hours to propagate
• Some registrars require email confirmation to unlock
• Re-lock your domain after transfer for security
